The Football v Homophobia Small Grants Scheme is now closed.
We are delighted to have received so much interest in the scheme, although this does mean that we have received many more applications than we were able to fund in our inaugural year.
We have judged the applications by how well they further the aims of the campaign, and have also tried to balance our selection by geography, type of applicant organisation, sexuality and gender identity.
Successful projects are as follows:
- BAGS (Bulgaria) – Meeting on homophobia with Professional Clubs followed by football tournament.
- BiBeriS (Germany) – A debate with young football fans followed by an Action Day.
- Cardiff Dragons (UK) – A 5-a-side football tournament engaging teams from a range of local organisations to raise awareness of homophobia in football.
- Castlecroft Rangers (UK) – Club ‘Equality For All – Challenge Homophobia’ using social media & t-shirts.
- Colega – Torremolinos (Spain) – Football v Homophobia football match against local police team followed by a day of action at a local club.
- Hertha Junxx (Germany) – Production of a banner to be displayed at home games throughout the season.
- Krylya (Russia) – A football tournament for lesbian teams in Moscow.
- Kulsport (Montenegro) – An LGBT Football Camp.
- TriGay (Mexico) – Recruitment of new players to the club & FvH match against officials from the City Government.
- Wipe Out Transphobia (UK) – A poster campaign tackling transphobia in sport & making trans people visible in sport.
