Goal Diggers Football Club presents: For the love of the game: 100 defiant years of womxn's football

Part of Football v Homophobia month & in partnership with The National Football Museum, artist Lily Grant, Football v Homophobia & FARE

Many believe football is a man's game. It is time to flip that script. It is time to change that narrative. It is time to celebrate 100 defiant years of womxn’s football.

Goal Diggers Football Club, in partnership with the National Museum of Football, will be launching their new kit: 'For The Love Of The Game', designed by artist Lily Grant. The kit has been created to celebrate and showcase the strength of the incredible and defiant individuals in womxn’s football who have fought to play the sport they loved, often in the face of a patriarchal and homophobic society. The history of womxn’s football is powerful and so are the players. This kit is here to show that.

As part of Football v Homophobia month, on the 28th of February at 7pm, via Zoom, Goal Diggers FC will be hosting a panel discussion to celebrate this powerful new kit and to learn about the stories of those showcased on it - all of whom have played “for the love of the game”.

Special guests from within the world of football will share their thoughts and experiences. Special guests will be announced shortly!

The kit will be available to pre-order during the event, with one lucky attendee receiving a free kit! 100 days after this kit launch the kit itself will be available. The 100 day countdown is to mark 100 years on from the FA’s ban on womxn’s football. We must not forget this history, we must learn from this history.

This event is part of Football v Homophobia Month of Action, and is being supported by Football vs Homophobia and FARE.
