Derbyshire County FA proud to support FvH in 2016

Derbyshire County FA is committed to tackling discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people by working together to rid the game of homophobia and transphobia.

Year round, FvH enables people to take action against prejudice and discrimination based on sexuality or gender identity in football, whilst celebrating and welcoming diversity in the game. This culminates in an international show of support in February which aims to raise awareness of the issue whilst showcasing new and existing work.
Derbyshire County FA will be working in partnership with the following partners during the month of action:

  • Alfreton Town F.C
  • Derby County Ladies F.C
  • Chesterfield F.C
  • Chesterfield College
  • Chesterfield Ladies F.C
  • Gresley F.C
  • Long Eaton United F.C (Women’s team)
  • University of Derby (Men’s and Women’s teams)

In partnership with the University of Derby, DCFA is organising a fixture between a University of Derby Men’s 11 v Nottingham Lions who play in the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN). In line with this DCFA has taken part in a panel discussion with the University of Derby on the subject of Homophobia in Football.

Derbyshire County FA was also present for the launch event on 1st February at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. The launch event marked the start of the fourth annual month of action.
Over the last 3 years DCFA has also signed up to the Charter Against Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport, achieved the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport and has set up an Inclusion Advisory Group.
