Our workshops for academy players are designed to target the understanding of players of all ages, from U10 to U21.
During the 2025/6 season, we are delighted to be working with former PL Academy player, club captain and centre-back from the Isthmian South East league, Jahmal Howlett-Mundle.
For players U14 upwards, Jahmal shares his story as a bisexual man in Non-League football, his experience of coming out, of challenging discrimination and allyship from fellow players, bringing to life the impact that players can have on creating inclusive environments.
Jahmal’s story is contextualised by FvH Education Lead, Annette Nelson.

Through our academy workshops for U14+, players will understand what homophobia is and explore how homophobia can potentially impact the experience of professional footballers. Players will gain an insight into how we form homophobic attitudes and opinions & what the potential impact of these opinions is. Participants will also understand what they can do to challenge homophobia and understand individual responsibility to challenge homophobia in football and how they, as individuals, can make a positive difference.
For younger players, our workshops help players understand what homophobia is and how it impacts the game. It raises awareness of homophobic name-calling, language and bullying and highlights how being a good team-mate can make football inclusive and welcoming for everyone.
