Small Grants Awarded

The Football v Homophobia campaign is delighted to announce the award of ten small grants for grass roots football clubs in the UK. The grants are part of a scheme, which aims to encourage grass roots clubs to take part in the campaign’s Month of Action in February.

The following ten grants of £200 have been awarded through the scheme, which has been funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation:

Alvo Boys FC – U12′s football team will carry the “Football v Homophobia” logo on squad coats and the FvH campaign message will be promoted throughout the club and league.

Tonbridge Angels FC – Permanent advertising hoarding promoting Football v Homophobia on pitch perimeter of ground to ensure long-term reinforcement of message, launched at Football for Everybody Day.

Cardiff City Ladies FC – A ‘Kick homophobia out of football’ week, where senior players will give talks to junior teams about Homophobia in Football.

Saltire Thistle FC – An open event to attract more players and supporters to this LGBT football club

Westfield FC – An inclusive ‘Football for ALL’ weekly session for 12-16 year olds

Woking Town FC – FvH awareness festival for young people

St Mawgan FC – Carry the Football v Homophobia logo on kit to raise awareness of the campaign

Soho FC – A 9-a-side football tournament for LGBT friendly teams

Castlecroft Rangers FC – An awareness-raising month to include FvH match balls to provided to opposition teams to prompt discussion.

Cardiff Dragons FC – A 5-a-side football tournament in February to both promote Wales’ only LGBT club but also to spread the FvH campaign message to local clubs and organisation.
